Amelio is a sister company to Paintman Paint Ltd, who are an award winning independent family run e-commerce business specialising in hand mixed traditional Coach Enamel serving the restoration, agricultural and heritage industries.
Amelio was created when we realised there was a gap in the market for traditional oil-based paint for domestic purposes.
Paintman Paint is a multi-award winning company.

Here are some answers to the questions we receive the most about our products and services.
If we missed anything, please do not hesitate to contact us. We’ll be happy to help.
For all UK mainland deliveries we use FedEx. We choose to use couriers which are insured to ship paint.
To track your order with FedEx click here.
We aim to despatch all of our orders within 1-2 working days. Orders are sent with a 24 hour courier service, however we can not always guarantee this delivery time frame with the courier and once the shipment has left our premises we have no control.
Consignment details and tracking will be sent via email from the courier.
We can ship worldwide as we now have our air freight license! If you would like to enquire about shipping to countries outside of the UK, please use our contact form.
Shipments to countries in the EU require a minimum order total of £135 ex VAT and will be sent out DAP (Delivered at Place), this means you will be subject to local customs and taxes.
All of our exterior paints are an oil-based Synthetic Alkyd Enamel. We use the highest quality, natural tints to ensure maximum coverage. Oil-based paint is approved for use on Heritage buildings due to being a traditional paint.
With our exterior paint, you can re-coat within 12 hours when the temperature is 20 degrees. If temperatures are less than this, bear in mind it will take longer.
We advise doing 2 coats of paint to create the best finish possible.
It depends on the surface you are painting. If you are applying on to bare aluminium we would recommend an etch primer. Any other surface you can use filler primer. For plastics, you will need to use an adhesion promoter before primer!
For any white, yellow, orange or very light shades always use a white primer. Any light-mid shades use light grey primer. For dark shades use dark grey primer.
Yes this paint can be applied by a spray gun, along with being brushed! To spray the paint, you do need to use some thinners which are available in our ‘tools’ section.
1 litre of paint covers approx 8-9 m2 when brush applied. This can obviously vary on how thickly the paint is applied! Also bear in mind, we do recommend 2 coats. So if you are doing 2 coats, 1L will be perfect for around 4 m2 coverage.
At 20°C, our Exterior Paint is touch dry in 2 hours, hard dry in 4 hours and full dry in 12 hours.
This means you can re-coat after 12 hours @ 20°C.
If you are choosing to spray the paint, the flash off time is 20 mins between coats.
Any good-quality, soft bristled flat or slightly angled brush that does not shed its bristles. The key factor is soft bristles, whether natural or synthetic, the make is down to you. Here at Amelio we offer brushes which are of an amazing quality, these are available in our ‘tools’ section.
You should always use etch primer when applying paint to bare aluminium to enhance adhesion. If you don’t use on bare aluminium, you run the risk of it peeling. This can also be used on any bare metal.
